Small
Business Service
The SBS is an agency of the Department of Trade & Industry.
The Small Business Service (SBS) was launched in April
2000 to provide a single organisation in Government
dedicated to helping small firms and representing them
within Government. Its mission is to build an enterprise
society in which small firms of all kinds thrive and
achieve their potential. The main objectives of the
SBS are:
Provide
a strong voice for small firms at the heart of Government
Simplify and improve the quality and coherence of support
to small firms Help small firms deal with regulation
and ensure small firm's interests are properly considered
at the earliest possible moment.
The
SBS services will be delivered through its website www.businessadviceonline.org,
which is currently under development, as well as through
the 45 strong Business Link Partnership, which will
be provided by the existing Business Link network.
The
SBS will provide information, advice and access to experts
on all issues relating to running your own business,
including business planning, finance regulation, management,
exporting, quality, employment issues, training and
development, innovation, design, information technology
and e-commerce.
It
will also run national services to help small firms
such as the Loan Guarantee Scheme, Smart grant for technology
transfer and on Management Best Practice. Direct Access
Government Provices a one-stop shop for businesses to
access regularity guidance and forms published on government
websites.
